Project planning and proposals based on background research

The JRCM draws up project proposals by studying available documentation and gathering information with the assistance of appropriate agencies. Our objectives are:

  • To identify the medium- and long-term needs of society, markets and business enterprises
  • To uncover promising technological developments in universities, other countries and other industries
  • To frame R&D topics that are have practical potential and are economically viable

Efficient promotion of R&D

A committee is formed for each research project, with representatives drawn from the participating enterprises (manufacturers or users), from the academic sector and from public agencies. The job of each committee is to formulate an R&D program, and to review and assess results. At the trial and evaluation phase, we utilize the facilities of participating companies and research institutes, and install new equipment if needed at appropriate sites.

Dissemination of results and next-stage groundwork

As well as conducting R&D, each project committee actively publicizes the research findings and works toward eventual application in industry.

Development of infrastructures for R&D

JRCM develops intellectual infrastructures such as a database for material properties to support R&D, and promotes collaboration among the industry, academia, and government.
